One Minute Winter
genre: melodic metalcore, nu metalcore, technical metal
A very particular nine-stringed instrument sat on a pedestal... a weapon that would darken the skies of even the high heavens themselves and take away all life of entire planets instantly just with one note. It was hidden away for the safety of all people... until it was discovered and obtained by Countess V “Sketch” laCroix herself as she was surrounded by her enemies and she strummed a note out of desperation. Her enemies were quickly turned to dust and the instrument she procured would change her life forever and make her the new deity of death.
Sketch went through countless adventures including the one where she had to destroy an illicit facility to rescue a young woman named Cléophée (commonly known as Cleo), and another one where she rescued four other young women, Itsuki, Hiyomi, Chie, and Touka, from a massive vile sea monster. She also went through a mishap where she wound up being ripped via Caesarean Section so that her septuplet daughters could be saved, including the three exceptionally talented young musicians Cosmo, Mari, and Thel’iosa (the latter of which is often referred to as Thel). These said people met up with Sketch’s old tenant Hanami and her two younger sisters Natsumi and Akimi. Truth was, Sketch was a legendary guitarist and composer who was known for her various gnarly compositions, but was unable to keep playing due to a wrongful conviction that resulted in her being locked in a prison for over three decades, and she wanted to return to playing guitar and make her way back on track. And thus, the third iteration of One Minute Winter was born.
One Minute Winter was a band that had existed in the past, but the first iteration of the band consisted of Sketch's old colleagues. All of the bandmates wound up dead at the beginning of their first headliner set, with the next iteration of One Minute Winter having fallen apart shortly after. However, this third iteration would last much longer than the other two iterations of One Minute Winter.
With Itsuki’s quite soft yet charismatic vocals; Touka and Akimi’s fast and devastating skills on the drums; Hiyomi and Natsumi’s tight bass playing; Hanami’s classically-trained skills on the keys; the modern elements brought by Mari and Thel; and Chie, Cleo, Cosmo, and Sketch’s dangerous shreds and other leads on their guitars, not only are One Minute Winter prepared to build the largest wall of death in the world, they are also poised to redefine metalcore, or for that matter, music itself.
With Sketch’s infamous weapon by her side on every stage, the whole world is poised to become the moshpit for the music that One Minute Winter are playing. They may not be the heaviest band in the world, but their hypertechnical playing and layers upon layers of guitar melodies allow them to more than make up for that. Punchy harmonised guitars... Bite-filled clangy bass tones... Pop-style vocals and lyrics... Acoustic and electronic drum kits layered for that modern hard-hitting sound... these people have it all.
Initially it was announced that none of the members from the previous incarnation of One Minute Winter would return, but eventually, two of the members from the second iteration, Avalon and Serena (who took the roles of co-lead vocals and co-lead guitar respectively), rejoined the band. Two more of Sketch’s daughters, Jion and Katrina (who also took up co-lead guitar and other positions such as percussion and cello), also joined, along with Sketch’s cousin Miranda (also on lead guitar) as well as the former’s longtime friend Mai (lead guitar as well as keys; she also plays classical guitar) along with many others. The new 24-piece band are more than ready to shake the ground, as Sketch is there to bring the lightning while the massive roster is ready to provide the thunder.
